Types of braces

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic brackets are made of composite materials. They are very strong and generally do not stain. People like to choose ceramic brackets because they "blend in" with the teeth and are less noticeable than metal. These are the type of braces actor Tom Cruise had. The ligatures or o-rings (tiny wires or rubber bands) that hold the arch wire on to the ceramic brackets are often white or clear.

WildSMILES Brackets

WildSMILES brackets are creating an exciting buzz in the world of Orthodontics. The patented designs can be mixed and matched to give everyone a truly unique smile. WildSMILES brackets are made from quality stainless steel and straighten teeth with precision. They also can incorporate colour elastic ties for added individuality. They come in footballs, flowers, stars, hearts and soccer balls.

Traditional Metal Braces

Metal brackets are silver. Metal brackets are very strong and can withstand most types of treatment. At first they may irritate your gums, but after a few weeks, when your cheeks "toughen up" they are not a problem anymore.

Self Ligating Braces

Self Ligating braces are at the cutting edge of orthodontic technology. They use a small gate to hold the archwire into the brace instead of an o-ring or ligature (hence the term self-ligating). In certain cases they can decrease treatment time. We use several types of self-ligating braces including the speed appliance and In-ovation braces. Patients enjoy the benefits of improved hygiene, aesthetics and comfort while clinicians benefit from time savings in self-ligation and precision in tooth movement due to the action of Self Ligating braces.

Please note that you will need to discuss with the Orthodontist the availability of the above braces.
